Pakistan lost East Pakistan..!
Pakistan lost its eastern wing, East Pakistan - after a nine month long civil
war and a Military intervention from Indian Army. Dacca (Dhaka) fall on December
16, 1971 and became the capital of the new born state of Bangladesh. Only
six East Pakistani (all Bengali) films were released in this year. Urdu film Pail was last produced film and Meharban was
the last Urdu film from Dhaka, which was released in West Pakistan (this Urdu
film was released in East Pakistan in 1969). It was also a loss of the third
film circuit for Pakistani films. A total number of 210 feature films (161
Bengali and 49 Urdu films) were produced in East Pakistan from 1956-71. (Last
updated on 2.11.2007).
Madam Noor Jehan and Ejaz separated on April 28, 1971 after 12 years marriage life. The main reason was an affair of Firdous and Ejaz after their success from the classic film Heer Ranjha. But Firdous lost her position as a superstar Punjabi film heroine because Madam declined to sing for her as playback singer.

The makers of this film have been asked to change the lyrics of a reference to "Misr" (Egypt) might prove detrimental to diplomatic relations with that country. While the line "Laga hai misr ka bazaar dekho" changes to "Laga hai husn ka bazaar dekho" in the movie soundtrack, the gramophone records, already sold in good numbers, are beyond redemption. |
