Film & song "Akailay na jana..?"

13.04.2009
on April 13, 2009, Saal ba saal film based program was telecast on PTV Home. This program was first part of 1966 year released films. Film "Arman" was discussed in details with some related informations. Dr. Omar Adil told that Sohail Raana comosed the music of the famous song "Akailey na jana" for film Akailey na jana but Waheed Murad insisted him to use this song for his film Arman. It seems not to be correct, because the same year 1966 a film Akailay Na ja na (Sofia bano, Mohammed Ali, Hanif, Rozina) was released and in this film a song with the same words "Akailay na jana" was there in the film but different composition, it was sung by Nighat Seema while the music composers were Lal Mohammed Iqbal.
In regards Araman, very few people may know that in the same year 1966 another film Sawa" (Sabiha, Santosh, Saloni, Aijaz) directed by Hasan Tariq was released and this films and Aramn's story was almost the same.
In this program they spoke about film Madar-e-Watan, Jalwa and Bharya Mela. Akmal was again discussed in this programe while in last program they have already talked much about him.
Mis read is also observed in this program. Dr Omar Adil said Ahsas instead of Ahsan while talking Waheed Murad's films.

How many duets sung by Madam Noorjehan & Ahmad Rushdi..?

06.04.2009

On April 06, 2009, Saal ba saal film based program was telecast on PTV Home. It was part-3 and last program about 1965 years released films. They talked about films Aisa Bhi Hota Hay (Zeba-Kamal), Heer Sayal (Firdous-Akmal) and Devdas (Shamim Ara-Habib-Nayyar Sultana) in details and in genral for other films Raqqasa, Sanam, Mala and Nachey Nagan bajey Been etc. 60's hero Akmal was discussed and They also showed a snippet of a 'Naat" from film Eid Mubarak.
A classic film of 1965 "Aakhri Station" was left in this program, in which Shabnam played a memorable role of her film life and moreover this film was a Nigar award winning film.
They are continueing providing incorrect information in their program. In this program they clearly told about a duet song "Mohabbat main tairey sar kee qasam " from film Aisa bhi hota hay, is the only duet song sung by Ahmed Rushdi and Noor Jehan together. This is a totally wrong info, Ahmed Rushdi and Noorjehan sang 12 duets film songs together, 5 punjabi duets and 7 urdu duets for the mentioned below films:
Aisa bhi hta hay, Abdleeb, Dillan dey soudey, Naya sawera, Bhaian baaj na jorien, Mastana Mahi (2 duets), Rim jhim, Do pattar anaraan dey, Mulaqat, Aas and Perchain.
They claim they are making a film history thru this program, sure they are making but with incorrect information. This program investigation team's performance/knowledge is very poor.

Sawarn Lata's last film was..?

30.03.2009

On March 30, 2009, Saal ba saal film based program for the year 1965-part 2 was telecast on PTV Home. It was comparatively better program except some mis-info and mis-read. Anyhow congratulate to PTV... at least some healthy changes started to appear...
They spoke in details about film "Naela" and "Jeedar" and musician Wazir Afzal who first time arranged music for film Zameen in this year. Dr.Umer Adil also narrated about Neelo's suicide trial in this year.
Mis-info of this program is about film Azmat-e-Islam. About Souran Lata they repeated two mis info for her, first in November 17, 2008 program when they told that Noor-e-Islam was the last film of Souran Lata as heroine, that was wrong. In this program they said Azmat-e-Islam was the last film of Souran Lata, it is also wrong. Souran Lata's last film was "Duniya na manay " (1971) not Azmat-e-Islam. Yes as heroine Azmat-e-Islam was the last film of her.
Secondly, they spoke that Shamim Ara was in the cast of film Azmat-e-Islam, while she (Shamim Ara) never ever acted in this film. The truth is that still PTV team is copying the information from Pakistan Film Magainze (Mazhar.dk) and releasing the same info right or wrong in the program. We can say in today's terms "copy & paste". They are not bothering for double check. This info was also taken from film history segment of Pakistan film Magazine, because the same wrong info is there.
Mis-read: Fiza (co anchor) reading ability is poor, she read "Rani" instead of "Ragni" while talking about fillm "Naela".
At the last of the program, it was annonced that next week they will continue 1965 (part 3) films information, sure they should do becasue some memorable and classic films are left like Akhri Station (Shabnam, Haroon, Rani), Mala (first color & cinema scope film from then East Pakistan, now Bangladesh), Kajal (Shabnam-Khalil), Devdas (Shamim Ara, Habib, Nayyar Sultana), Tairey Shaher main (Zeba-Allauddin) and of course Phanney Khan (Shirin, Sudhir, Allauddin).

When Shamim Ara wanted to marry "The Conqueror of Kashmir"..!

23.03.2009

On March 23, 2009, Saal ba saal program for the year 1965-part one was telecast on PTV Home. In the year 1965, 47 Urdu films and 13 Punjabi films were released, but it was very surprising that they talked about film Malangi for more than 10 minutes and gave 2-2 minutes time for urdu films (Hazar Dastan, Eid Mubarak, Kaneez etc). Is this a fair policy and justice with urdu films.
Some time, Dr.Umer Adil exaggerates while talking about some films stars, in this program he spoke much about Firdous and Zeba's talents and beauty. As a whole it was not a very interesting program, they could include some interesting information like Neelo's trial for suicide in this year and Shamim ara's statement in 1965 when she announced that she would get marry with the person who will hoist the Pakistani flag at Kashmir (Occupied one).
Only beautiful thing in this program that Dr.Umer Adil spoke some good words about Himayat Ali Shair and Mohammed Qavi Khan.
Film Kaneez was not the first film in which Himayat Ali Shair wrote songs as it was said in this progrm. Anchal (1962) was the first film of Himayat Ali Shair in which he wrote beautiful songs which are alive till today like "Kisi chaman main raho tum" sung by Ahmed Rushdi was the Nigar Award winnder song of 1962.

Ptv is copying Pakistan Film Magazine without further check

16.03.2009

On March 16, 2009, PTV Home telecast Saal ba saal progrm for 1964 second part and they forgot and did not remember the first part of 1964 which they telecast incomplete last week on March 09, 2009, means Gone with the Wind........
In this program they talked in details about two films only Chingari (Shamim ara+Santosh) and Dachi (Neelo+Sudhir) and for other films Khandan (Bahar+Akmal) and Ashiyana(Zeba+Kamal) they spoke very shortly.
Editing standard was very poor in this program, there were jumps in the program.
Mistakes: Film Chingari's start cast they included Saloni name, while she did not work in this film, it was Deeba who worked in this film and they did not talk about Deeba. Secondly, they included Noorjehan's name as singer for film Ashyana, as I remember there was no song in this films sung by Noorjehan.
Actually producers of this program are copying such information from Pakistan Film Magazine (Mazhar.dk) and including the same information in their program without further check. Above mentioned information is also taken from there that is wrong any way.
First Pakistani colour film Sangam released in 1964, was not included in this program. Sangam was produced by Zaheer Reehan and start cast Rozi, Haroon and Khalil.
Suggestions: if during any year a lot of films released, they should arrange more than two programs covering maximum films information. For example 1964 year, 74 films were released and they talked about few films.

New blunder by PTV ..?
09.03.2009

On March 09, 2009, when I opened PTV Home to watch Saal ba saal film based program, I saw that they were repeating last week's (1963-Part 2) program but after 15 minutes program, suddenly they switched over to 1964 released films program and mixed two programs in one. I was stonished and thinking what had happened with management of this program, were they afraid from Long March and doing such funny activities in hectic way.It is a worse example of carelessness and blunders from a National network Pak TV transmissions. Isko kahtey hain "adha teetar adha batair". I always have been pointing out in my opinions that their production standard is very poor and they are doing their job in hurry and there is no check & balance on them.
However, in last 10 minutes they showed incomplete part of 1964 released films and in this part they were talking about film Touba (Zeba, Kamal) and Baiti (Neelo,Eijaz). They talked in detail about Zaiba. When talking about film Touba, they talked a little about veteran actor "Kumar". Today very few people may know about him, Kumar's real name was Syed Hasan Ali, urf Majjan. He belonged from respected Nawab family from Lucknow. He started his carrier from silent films era and from 30's to 60's he worked in a lot of Indian films and most of them were hit. He was "Sangtarash" of Mughal-e-Azam (Dilip-Madhubala) and Mohammed Rafi sahib famous song from Mughal-e-Azam (Zinda bad, zinda bad aey muhabbat zinda bad) was picturized on him. In early 60's migrated to Pakistan and worked in many Pakistani films and died in 1982. Director S.A. Hafiz (Touba, Sanam and Shikar fame) was his son.
I don't now, next week, what PTV will do, they will show complete 1964 related films program from the starting in a proper way..or any new blunder.......?

Farzana & Ehtesham ..?
02.03.2009

On March 02, 2009, watched subject film based program on PTV Home. Most of the program was full of only two films information, Talash (Shabnam-Rehman) and Chooriyan (Laila-Akmal), they ignored other good films of the year even they did not talk about best classical film of year 1963 Ishq par zor naheen (Jameela Razzaq-Ilyas Kashmiri), I remember in late 70's, PTV selected six best Pakistani classical films and screened and Ishq par zor naheen was one of them.(PTV memory is very short).
They talked about films Shikwa, Aurat Aik Kahani, Maan key aansoo, Jab sey dekha hay tumhain, Dulhan etc., but very shortly in minutes.
Repeatation: They repeated the information about Laila, her daughter (Sweety) and grand daughter (Janan malik) while there was no need, because in the previous program they had aalready talked about her.
Mistakes: When Dr.Umer Adil was talking about Captain Ehtesham and Mustafeez in regard film Talash, he said by mistake "Farzana key mian Ehtesham", in fact Ehtesham was father of Farzana not Mian(Husband).
Taking about film Baji, they were showing Noorjehan's PTV song "Dil key afsaney" on the screen, Musician name was being shown "Saleem Reza" instead of Saleem Iqbal.
PTV responsible team should take care about these mistakes. It seems that they are making this program in hurry, without final review.
A musical and successful film of 1963 was Aik Taira Sahara (Shamimara+Darpan), though it was a tru copy of an indian film "Main Chup Rahoongi". Almost all songs of this film were very popular.
It will be interesting to know that a patriotic song (Chorus) of this film "Apney parcham taley, har sipahi chaley" sung by Irene Perveen was banned on Radio (TV and other communication resources were not available at that time as we have now) by the Government at that time (Ayub Khan's regime). Reason was that the Government objected one line of this patriotic song "Lay key aik din dikhadaingay Kashmir Ham". Till today, it is a banned national song, very few people know about this.
For this action of Government in early 60's, now we can understand easily the policies of Governments on Kashmir in different eras.

Who was Nakhshab..?
23.02.2009

After missing some programs, on February 23, 2009, watched Saal ba saal film based program on PTV Home. It was part-1 about films released in 1963. Comparatively it was an interesting and free of mistakes program. They talked about films Fanoos, Baghawat, Mouj Maila,Daaman, Neelam Teer Andaz and Tees mar khan. About Fanoos, they provided interesting information about Nakhshab Charjavi. Nakhshab Charjavi was not only a song writer, he produced and directed some memorable films in India (before migrating to Pakistan) like Naghma, Zindagi Ya Toofan and Raftar. He married with Nadira (Aan fame) and seperated lately. Famous song from Mahal (1948 Madhubaal-Ashok Kumar) "Aaaiga aaiga aney wala" was also penned by him. In early 60's migrated to Pakistan and produced only two films Fanoos (Salman Peerzada, Komal) and Maikhana (Shamim Ara, Habib) but both were flopped films. Maikhana was the first Pakistani film which publicity program was telecast from Radio Cylon at that time becasue Radio Cylon was very very popular in Paksitan in 60's. In the year 1963 many new faces (Firdous, Komal, Nabeela, Aaliya, Albaila,Haneef, Rozina, Khalifa Nazir) were introduced and a lot of Urdu films got success in this year like Ishq par zor naheen, Baajai, Talash, Kala pani, Maan key aansoo, Shikwa, Seema, Aik taira sahara and Khoon kee pias etc. Some minor spelling mistake were observed in this program, although these are minor mistakes but important. Nazir Baigum name, they wrote Nazir Baigham and Nakhshab they wrote Nakshab.

Wrong info about film Gulfam ..?
12.01.2009

On January 19, 2009, PTV Home broadcast film based program for the year 1961. This was one of the poor production programs with wrong information.
They talked only 04 films (Abroo, Gulfam, Ghalib and Gul Bakavoli), while a lot of successful films are left, may be they will include in next week, let's see.
About film Gulfam, they said that Salim Reza, Muneer Hussain and Zubaida Khanum were the singers of this film, while this information is not correct, male singers ok, but female singer Zubaida Khanum did not sing any song in this film. Female singers of this film were Naseem Baigum, Mala and Naheed Niazi.
They showed a clip of Noor-ul- Hasan (TV actor) who was commenting that PTV making history and recording unique information etc.etc. but I say PTV making wrong history of films with wrong information.
A lot of films information are left and in Debut segment they did not talk about Munawar Zareef (Dandian),Razia (Taj aur talwar), and Asad Bukhari (Surraya), and musician's pair Bakhshi Wazeer (Bekhabar) and Manzoor Ashraf (Separan). Day by day this program is becoming a boring program as they are not catering all and correct information.
Mazhar sahib, PTV team of Saal ba saal are copying information from your Pakfilm website, because when i checked film Gulfam singers in film history segment, 3 names as playback singers were printed there and they were Saleem Reza, Muneer Hussain and Zubaida Khanum and PTV copied from there. So, you also have to correct the name in your web site, instead of Zubaida Khanum, please write Naseem Baigum, Mala and Naheed Niazi. Thanks.

Who was Rekha..?
12.01.2009

On January 12, 2009, after two week's gap, this program was telecast at PTV Home. This program was bout 1960's films with poor and wrong information.
About film Ayaz, they said that four famous actresses worked in this film, those were Sabiha, Nayyar Sultana, Neelo and Nighat Sultana, three of them were correct but Nighat Sultana was not in this film. They showed one scene from this film and on screen Nighat Sultana's name was there while she was not Nighat Sultana.
She was old timer "Rekha" who acted in this film. Rekha was a busy actress in 30"s and 40"s(Neela (35), Ashirwad(43), Rangeela dost(44), Aladin (45), Beetey din and Baila(47) were some of his films in that era. She migrated to Pakistan after pritition and worked in Pakistani films till 60's as character actress. Her some films in Pakistan were Choti Baigum, Thandi Sarak, Ayaz and Khandan etc. She married actor producer and wirter Shaikh Iqbal.
See the performance of PTV, they do not bother to confirm the correct name of artists and think viewers are foolish and they do not know while some viewers know more than them. I am surprise Dr. Umer Adil is there and involved in this program, he also ignores such blunders.
They focused on few films Ayaz, Salma and Saheli and as per their habits they started to talk about Noorjehan and ignoring some important films for the year. "Sham Dhaley" was a prominent film of 1960 produced by Santosh and Soofi Tabassum's ghazal sung by Naseem Baigum "So Bar chaman mehka so bar bahar aai", was a hit of the year. This film also won 5 Nigar Awards (maximam awards for that year), but PTV team of this program may have no knowledge about this.
About Noor Jehan they said that first time her voice was given to Bahar (Salma-1960) and Husna (Rani Khan-1960), if you see the fact, regardless the reasons, first time Noor Jehan's song was picturized on Musarrat Nazir in film Jan-e-Bahar (1958).

A jazba-e-dil gar main chahun..
22.12.2008

On December 22, 2008, PTV Home broadcast film based program for the year 1960-part 1. It was comparatively better program than previous ones. As usual they started program with Punjabi films Mitti dian moortan and Bahropia and put aside Urdu films while 34 Urdu films were released in this year and Punjabi films only 04, so every one can easily understand how they are justifying urdu films in the program.
Any how, in this program they brought some interesting information for the viewers, like Bahzad Lukhnawi's most famous ghazal "ay jazba-e-dil main chahoon aur samney manzil aajaey" was used (not complete ghazal) in film Khaiber Mail (1960) picturized on Neelo and Nasira on a Qawwali stage, while this ghazal was later sung by Nayyara Noor for PTV and became a classis ghazal of Black and while TV's era in early 70's.
Some more information they gave about Zareef and his family members who worked in filmworld with sirname of Zareef.
They also talked about renowned film director late Khalil Qaiser who acted as hero in film Clerk with Musarrat Nazir first and last time but could not be succeeded.
In Debut segment, they told about Salma Mumtaz (Neelofar), Sabira Sultana (Insaf), Ibrahim Nafees (Raat key rahi) and Nirala (Aur bhi gham hain). They also spoke about Zareef who died in this year 1960. Sabiha's father Mohammed Ali Mahia was also died in the smae year.
Big hits of the year Sahaili, Salma, Saltanat, Raat key raahi, Hamsafar and Ayaz are left in this progrm, most probably they will include in part 2 program next week.

The Cricket Legend Imran Khan & Niazi Sisters
15.12.2008

On December 15, 2008, PTV Home film based program Saal ba Saal for the year 1959 (part-2) was telecast. They focused all program on two Noorjehan's films Koel and Neend and ignored all other famous Urdu films. At the last of program as fill in the blanks, they gave some minutes to film Nagin (Neelo-Ratan Kumar) and thats all.
We failed to understand why PTV Home is alergic from Urdu films.
Wrong information about playback singers: When they were talking about film Koel, they said the duet song "Rim Jhim rim jhim parey phowar" was sung by Noorjehah and Salim Raza, while it was sung by Muneer Hussain and Noorjehan not Salim Reza and Noorjehan. The same song of course was again sung by Niazi sisters (Naheed and Najma).
This information will be an interesting and very few people know that Naheed Niazi and Najma Niazi are the aunt (Khala) of Cricket legend and today's politician Imran Khan.

Deeba or Chutanki..?
08.12.2008

On December 08, 2008, watched PTV Home film based program for the year 1959. As usual it was full of Pujabi films informations and totally Urdu films ignored while 25 Urdu films released in this year and only 10 Punjabi films. They also did not talk about 03 Bangali films made in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh).
I have suggestion,
if the producer of this program insist to include Punjabi films information and unable to justify with Urdu films, they should move this program to Regional language(Punjabi) channel, it will be more suited there.
In this program, they talked in all program about film Kartar Singh in details and Naaji, and few seconds gave to Jago Hua Savaira and Jhoomer. Where are Urdu films Nagan, Koel, Raaz, Saathi, Sola Aaaney, Savaira, Apna Paraya ,and Neend etc, who were famous and successful films of the year and did not come under discussion in this program.
Still I could not understand, why Umer Adil commented in English about Urdu film Jago Hua Savera.
Fiza (co-presenter) urdu pronounciation is not correct, she spoke Ghufrafai instead of Ghufrafiaee, it is a national net work program, pronounciation mistakes are noted by the viewers. Umer Adil who sits beside her, he should correct such type of mistakes.
Debut: They talked about Deeba (Faisla) and Nasira (Boody shah) and ignored others like Khalil Qaiser (Yarbely), Qadeer Ghouri (Naaji), Saifuddin Saif (Kirtar Singh) and Hasan Tariq (Neend). However, I add this insteresting information that Deeba in film Faisla appeared with the name of Chutanki (Child Star) and she became Deeba when appeared in Chragh Jalta Raha (1962).
At the beginning of the program, Dr. Umer Adil alway says that due to short time duration of the program, they cannot include all informations, it is ok, but my question, why they catch only one or two films (Punjabis) in the program and wasted all time on these few films, necessary or unnecessary information and clips are shown in the program.
What do you say Dr. Umer Adil "Beech is masley key" ?

Qateel Shafai as actor..?
01.12.2008

On December 01, 2008, watched PTV Home film based program Saal ba saal (1958- part 2) . I missed few minutes starting portion of the program, so I do not know what they telecast, when I resumed they were talking about film Hasrat (Sabiha-Santosh).
Presenters of this program always make regret that they could not include or cover all informations about the concerned year due to limited duration of the program, while the other side they include unnecessary films ifnormations or clips in the program. In this program when they were talking about film Hasrat, they unnecessarily showed the clips of Indian films "Najma" ,"Dil Aik Mander" and Pakistani film "Insaniyat" (Zeba-Waheed Murad),they consumed about 10 minutes and instead of these they could include more and more iformations about 1958 films.
While talking about film Zaher-e-Ishq, Dr.Omar Adil one of presenters of this program told that Qateel Shifai (song writer of this film) also acted a Doctor's minor role in this film.
Many successful films of the year were gone unnoticed in this program like Aadmi, Bharosa, Touheed (as it was a very different and unique film) and Akhri Nishan, these films must have been included in the program.

Is Ptv A Punjabi TV..?
23.11.2008

On November 24, 2008, PTV film based program for the year 1958-part-1, was telecast. They are including some information without confirmation, this week they said film Mukhra (Sabiha-Santosh) was the first film of Jafer Malik as independent Director, this is wrong, Jafer Malik had directed two films (Baap ka gunah and Saat Lakh in 1957) before Mukhra.
In Debut segment, they did not talk about Zamarrud (Hasrat), Mazhar Shah (Baygunah) and Abbas Nousha (Rukhsana), who were introduced in 1958 and they were famous, had prominent place and spent long time in Pakistani film world.
..director of this program Ali Hasan always keep Urdu films in secondary place and he is found of Punjabi films that are discussed in the program and placed on front, I don't know why?
in the year 1958, 23 Urdu films, 07 Punjabi films and 03 Sindhi films were released, but I was disappointed to see that they focused all their program on Punjabi films except film Jaan-e-Bahar and ignored all 22 Urdu films released in the year of 1958. This is not fair and not the first time, director of this program Ali Hasan always keep Urdu films in secondary place and he is found of Punjabi films that are discussed in the program and placed on front, I don't know why?
In my previous opinion, I have told many times they should give due share to the films in their program according the number of released films in the year, either Urdu or Punjabi but they run only after Punjabi films. We are not against Punjabi films, but this is not a Punjabi based regional program, it is seen worldwide and telecast from National net work.
Avoiding facts and try to change the history thru such programs, creates a feeling of discrimination and favourtism in the public who watch the program. History is history, it never be changed, it would be there always.

Shamim Ara - Dulhan ek raat ki..!
17.11.2008

On November 17, 2008, watched PTV film based program Saal ba saal part 2 of 1957. Most successful films of 1957 (Ishq-e-Laila-Wada) were under discussion, when they were talking about Ishq-e-Laila, I was remembering Laila Majnoon (Bahar-Aslam Pervaiz) directed by Anwar Kamal Pasha which was made in competition of Ishq-e-Laila and released same date, but it became a total failure and Ishq-e-Laila made a history.
When they were talking about WZ Ahmed (Wada and Roohi fame), I recalled director Fareed Ahmed (late) who was son of WZ Ahmed and one of the best films directors of Pakistan. He married with Shamim Ara and it lasted only one day. TV renowned artist and producter Sameena Ahmed is his ex- wife. Many good films are on Fareed Ahmed credit like Andleeb (Shabnam-Waheed Murad), Khak aur Khoon, Angarey and Zaibunnisa etc.
Some information needs correction. They said film Noor-e-Islam was the last film of Souran Lata as heroine, this is not correct. She acted in some more films as heroine after Noor-e-Islam like Shama (1959-Darpan), Billo jee (1962-Habib) and Azmat-e-Islam (1965-Habib).
About film Baidari, it was told that this film was a first copied film of an indian film Jagarti, of course it was a copied film but not first in Pakistan. Before Baidari Attaullah Shah Hashmi had also made a copied film that was Nouker (1955-Souranlata,Nazeer).
This will be an interesting to mention that Ratan Kumar played main role in Indian film Jagarti (before migration to Paksitan) and he played the same role in film Baidari and both films were very successful.

Who were Laila, Sweety and Jana Malik..?
10.11.2008

On November 10, 2008, watched PTV program Saal ba saal first part of 1957 films based information. It was ok but most of time of program more than 15 minutes, they focused on film Yakkay wali only and they did not talk much about other most successful films like Saat lakh and Ishq-e-laila. Film Wada and Baidari were also not under discussion. It was the first part of 1957, may be in next IInd part of porgram, they will cover the rest of the informations.
Under segment of Debut they talked about Kamal and Laila while other Debut personalities like Ratan Kumar (Baidari), A Hameed (Musician-Anjam) and Deboo Bhatta Chargi (Musician-Maska Polish) were not included in the program.
One thing I want to mention here that some time they include some unconcern scenes and information in the program, for example in this program when they were talking about Laila it was ok they told about her daughter Sweety (she was 70's short time second class actress and Laila always claimed her as sister), and grand daughter TV artist Janan Malik. But it was not necessary and not any concern to show Janan Malik's drama's clips while the other important information of 1957 year were ignored.
Ptv's informative programme on Eid-movies
Thanks to Asif from USA on Youtube

Secondly, I am watching this program from starting but it seems that they focused on Punjabi films only and keep Urdu films in secondary position. Scrip writer of this program seems to be a partial. They should justify and include information according to the success and number of films either Punjabi or Urdu. This year 1957 it was Urdu films year, many films were successful (Wada, Saat laakh, Ishq-e-Laila, Baidari,Aaas pass and Sardar etc), but they focused on Yakkay wali only.
A better performance by Ptv
03.11.2008

On November 03, 2008, Saal ba saal 1956-second part was telecast. I think our opinion/comments are started to reach to the producer director of this program, because they tried to cover shortcomings and loop holes for that we have been pointing out to them from time to time.
However, in this program they talked about film Sarfarosh, Baghi, actress Shamim ara (debut 1956) and our great singer Ustad Mehdi Hassan sahib as he rendered his voice first time in film Shikar (Karachi made in 1956). Although many artists of 1956 are left in this program like Ahmed Rushdi and Lehri etc.
Also film Jabroo as Akmal's first film as hero and Baghi as Sultan Rahi's first appearance in this film were mentioned. Yesteryears actress Yasmeen's prominent position with four films in 1956, and Souran Lata's countdown started in this year with two flop films were discussed.
As a conclusion it was a better program than the previous ones.

Missing information's...
27.10.2008

On October 27, 2008, watched PTV film based magazine program Saal ba Saal 1956. It was an incomplete program. Many important innformations were left. Program was focused on Noorjehan and Musarrat Nazir only while there was no concern of these personalities with this year. Time was wasted on some unconcern matters like Raagnee, some scenes (Wasta aey rab da -Dulla Bhatti) repeated more than once.
They talked much about film Lakht-e-Jigar and Guddi Gudda while these films were totally flopped films. Many hit films of the year were ignored like Choti Baigum, Hameeda, Sarfarosh and Baghi.
As far as concerns the new faces of the year, they talked abut Habib, Eijaz and Bahar only while the other prominent film personalities like Shamim Ara (Kuwari baiwa), Akmal (Jabroo), Sultan Rahi (Baghi), Neelo (Sabira), Lehri (Anokhi), Jameela Razzaq (Intikhab), Sawan (Karnama), Ahmed Rushdi (Anokhi), Mehdi Hasan (Shikar), Nasim Baigum (Guddi Gudda) and many others were totally ignored and no single word was told about them.
First ever released Sindhi and Bengali films during the year 1956 were left in the program without talking a single word about them.
It seems PTV producer of this program is making fool to public, taking some repeated scenes, snippets from here and there, collect them and show on tv. Poor production and home work, if they are presenting a program on films yearwise, they should talk, cater and collect complete information for the concerned year.

Film Qatil was a memorable film..
20.10.2008

Yesterday Oct 20, 2008 I watched the subject program (Saal ba saal for the year 1955) and found the following loop holes in this program.
While talking about play back singer Kouser Perveen, a famous song (lori - Raaj Dularey) from film Nouker was shown and it was told that it is sung by Kouser Perveen while this song (lori) picturised on Souran Lata was sung by Munawwar Sultana not Kouser Perveen. This is a fact that this lori was recorded first in the voice of Kouser Perveen but due to some reasons, it is also recorded in the voice of Munawar Sultana which was used in film. But Kouser Perveen's lori was very famous publicly and very few people know that Munawar Sultana also sang this lori and used in the film.
Debut: Ommissions: Musarrat Nazir, Nayyar Sultana, Aslam Pervaiz, and Akmal(Extra) appeared very first time in film Qatil (Sabiha-Santosh) but it was not told in the program. Salim Raza was also discovered in this film but his name was ignored in the program. This is an interesting information that Musarrat Nazir and Nayyat Sultana appeared in the film Qatil as Sameena and Nazli respectively and later their names were changed as Musarrat Nazir and Nayyar Sultana. Humayaun Mirza changed the name Nazli to Nayyar Sultana while making film Intikhab in Karachi.
Moreoever, Diljeet Mirza in film Jalan, Saqi in Iltija and Rukhsana in Hamari Zaban (first ever Karachi made film) were introduced first time in the year 1955 but this information was not included in the program.

4th episode: Who was Hafeez Jehan..?
01.09.2008

Yesterday (Sep 01, 2008) I watched Saal ba saal program related to 1952's released films. It was a comperatively better program without any remarkable errors. Brief introudctions of some personalities like Sibtain Fazli, Hafeez Jehan, was interesting. Very few people knew that Hafeez Jehan, heroine of punjabi film Nath was relative (Bhabi) of Renoka devi (Baigum Khursheed Mirza), prepartition indian films heroine and very good artist of Karachi TVs in 60's and 70's.

Suggestion: It would be very interesting if you include obituary segment in your programe yearwise. For example in 1952 classical musician Ustad JKhanday Khan died on Janauary 07th, 1952.

3rd episode: Discrimination on Ptv..?
27.8.2008

Pakistani films 1951Yesterday I watched Saal ba saal program for 1951. It would be better if you could included the following information in the program making the program more interesting and covering more facts:

  1. Jahangir Khan hero of Chann way is the father of today's TV and film actor Shamil Khan.
  2. Film Billo's initial name was Meerasi, but due to protest from musicians, Meerasi was changed to Billo.
  3. In this program for 1951 you ignored all Urdu 7 films released in 1951 and focused all program 80% on Chan way and other two punjabi films Billo and Dilber. It is not fair and seems to be a discrimination. Please do not avoid the facts and figures because facts are facts, you never deny or changed the history.
A few days back while I was surfing channels on tv i came across some Pak channel. There was a song from an old Pak movie Judai and then other few from 1950's.. BUT to my very surprise sab 2 number kaam tha like audio did belong to movie titles shown on video but the video was totally different, NOT AT ALL from the same movie. either the same heroine was being shot from a very far off camera (called long shot) from some other movie OR the audio was being imposed on a song from other movie..totally absurd effort to fool public in the name of rare song telecast and misguiding masses.
I think the presenters wanted to exploit our younger generation from the fact that they might not have seen these movies so fake videos shud be used. Alas these people dunt know still some old chaps like me are alive who have seen 1950's movies like Judai, Hamari Basti, Selab, Pinjra, Parwaz, Sham Dhale and many more like this. So I'll just request the presenters of the program to either announce that the song clips we show dunt belong to the movie labelled upon OR they shud simply show pics of actors with song in background.
    Thanks to Dr. Bukhari
I was really disappointed when you did not give any details about 7 Urdu films (Akaili, Eid, Hamwatan, Director, But tarash, Ghairat and Pinjra)....please do not start controversy making this program a controversial.

2nd episode: Nazar's first film was Teri Yaad (1948)
18.8.2008

Bravo, yesterday (Aug 18, 2008) I watched subject program, it was better but still production value is poor. I found the following errors and hope you will make correction.

  1. Comedian Nazar's first film was Tairi Yaad (1948) not Judai as told in your yesterday's program.
  2. English word heroine's spell is written wrong, the correct spell is HEROINE not HEROIN as is being shown on the screen in yr program. Please add E at the end of Heroin.

1st episode: Some blunders
4.8.2008

Since last Monday PTV Home started a new film based magazine program named Saal ba Saal hosted by Dr. Omer Adil with a female (name not known). This program is based on Pakistan films and its related artists/workers, incidents, new faces of that era and other pertinent information  from 1947-2007. This program is shown every Monday at 07:15 pm (Pakistan present time) on PTV Home.

In first program on August 04, 2008, they made some blunders, on the screen a song from Qatil and clipping showing from Intizar. The picture on screen of Zubaida Khanum and they are showing this picture naming Kourser Perveen. In Urdu word Sada Bahar they are writing with Suad not from Seen. Some other mistakes I observed, but we cannot do any thing.
